New Governmental Regulations on SEER Affecting Texas Residents
Recently, there was an update to Federal SEER requirements for all AC systems manufactured after Jan. 1, 2023.
Who Is First Affected by the 2023 SEER Change?
It’s mostly the AC companies. Beginning in 2023, AirVantage, along with all Texas heating and air conditioning companies are not able to install an air conditioning unit with a SEER rating of 14 or less. The new federal regulation means all home air conditioners installed by AirVantage will be SEER 15 or higher.
So, How Will You be Affected?
Don’t worry about it too much; it’s likely you won’t be affected by this regulation change. However, homeowners that do have older units will have to accept new SEER 15 minimum rule. If that happens to become your situation, you probably will still not be significantly impacted by the raised SEER standards. The good news is that you will most likely see a decrease in summer energy bills.
Furthermore, the cost difference isn’t much for a new higher SEER air conditioner system that runs more efficiently. AirVantage is available to help you make an important decision should your old AC unit break down.
It’s most likely a homeowner with an old unit in the Houston- Galveston, area will choose a SEER 14 (or less) air conditioner. Call John at AirVantage Cooling and Heating Services… 409-925-6171 and I or one AirVantages’ technicians will help you decide on what’s best for your home and budget.
