Clogged ac drains can cause real damage to ceilings, walls and flooring but, you can keep it from happening.
It’s important to make sure your AC Condensate drains are clear and flushed out from time to time. It’s an important part of ac service that’s easy to do yourself and AirVantage can add this condesate drain setup for you. Call 409-354-1234 for quick service.
Having the proper fittings built into the drains makes the task a lot easier. In this picture you can see how AirVantage typically installs drain line connections on our evaporator coil jobs.
Once you have these type of fittings installed, simply make a mixture of a combination of 1/2 cup of bleach with a 1/2 half gallon of water and add it the drain line as shown.
Be sure the system is off and use a funnel if you need to help avoid splashing or spilling. Also it’s important to pour a gallon of water into the secondary drain pan to test for proper drainage from the pipe protruding from the soffit of the home. This is for an ac system located in the attic.
For systems located in a closet or what we call an upflow ac system, the procedure is similar though often there is no secondary drain pan. When this is the case, it’s a good idea to make use of a float safety cut off control as means to help prevent water damage.
This procedure is for maintenance and should not be done on clogged drains.
